Coffee roaster and cafe  ·  Leichhardt  ·  2026  ·  Concept build

Batch and Bond

Batch and Bond is a site we designed and built for a coffee roaster and cafe on Norton Street, Leichhardt, that roasts upstairs and pours downstairs. The hero is not a photo of a latte; it is this week's roast.

The brief

A roaster that roasts three days each week, sells beans over the counter and by phone, and supplies cafes across the Inner West with Tuesday and Friday deliveries. The site had to do three things for three different people: tell a regular what is on the bar this week, sell a bag of beans to someone at home, and give a cafe owner enough to ask about wholesale. It also needed to show the hours and address and sound like the people behind the counter, warm and a little dry.

The approach

The headline, "Roasted upstairs. Poured downstairs.", sets the tone and the structure. The top of the page is a card for the single origin on the bar this week, with origin, process, varietals, altitude, tasting notes, roast date and brew guides, because that is what a coffee person wants to know, and it changes every Tuesday. Navy and paper with an orange accent, set in Archivo and Archivo Narrow, gives it a workshop feel. The three retail products have order buttons that dial the shop, and the wholesale section asks venue, weekly kilos and current coffee with a send button that also dials the phone. A call beats a form here because wholesale starts with a chat.

The build

A single page with anchors for this week's roast, buy beans, wholesale and visit the shop. A single origin card with full brewing detail. Three retail products with prices and tap to call order buttons. A wholesale section with a three field layout and a phone link, plus a note that machines are on loan above a set weekly volume. A testimonials section with three Google reviews. A footer with the Leichhardt address, hours, roasting days, kitchen closing time and a call button.
