DJ RHYSJ plays weddings, parties, corporate and school events across Sydney, the Hunter Valley and the Southern Highlands. The site had to let someone hear him, check a date and enquire without leaving the page.

The brief
RHYSJ has been on the decks for eighteen years, starting as a bedroom DJ at fifteen and going on to play the Kings Cross precinct, Ivy and Ivy Pool. He works open format, reading the room rather than playing a fixed set. The site needed to cover four very different kinds of booking, from weddings and 21sts to end of year corporate functions and school formals, give a visitor something to listen to, and turn an open date into an enquiry with that date attached.
The approach
A single page was the right shape. Nobody researching a wedding DJ wants to navigate; they want to scroll, listen and enquire. The headline is four words, "Any venue, any crowd." The palette is warm off white with near black type, Spectral for headings and Inter for body, so it feels considered rather than nightclub. The hero is a muted looping video with a lighter local file served to phones. A SoundCloud player sits inside the page with the enquire button right beside it, because the moment someone likes what they hear is the moment to ask. The whole homepage is about 12KB of HTML, so the video and player load on top of a page that is already there.
The build
One page with anchor navigation for About, Events, Areas, Sound, FAQ and Enquire. An autoplaying muted video hero with separate sources for mobile and desktop. Four service groups: weddings, private celebrations, corporate, and school and community events. An embedded SoundCloud player with an enquiry button beside it. A photo and video gallery sorted by event type. An availability calendar with month navigation and a note that final availability is confirmed by reply, feeding an enquiry that arrives with the date chosen. Footer with email, Instagram, TikTok and SoundCloud.
Desktop and phone. The phone view is where most visitors will meet it.
