 Need fixing
 Worth a look
 Doing fine

We ran it on ourselves first.

Those are our real numbers, checked the moment you opened this page, and they will change when our site does. It seemed like the wrong order to go looking through everybody else's work without showing you ours.

The check tells you what. Titles, headings, structured data, whether you name your suburb anywhere, whether an AI assistant can read your business at all. Every line of it is verifiable. Open your own source and check us.

A person tells you why. What any of it is costing you in enquiries, the order to fix things in, what to ignore, and how you sit against whoever is ranking above you. That takes judgement, so it is written by hand by the same person who would build the site.

What the free website audit checks.

The Check loads your home page the way Google and AI assistants do and runs twelve tests. Each one comes back as a pass, a warning or a fail, with a plain explanation of what it means for you.

CheckWhy it matters
The page loadsA home page that returns an error is invisible to customers and to Google.
Secure connectionBrowsers warn people away from sites without HTTPS.
Mobile readyMost local searches happen on a phone.
Page weightHeavy pages load slowly on a suburban connection and people leave.
Page titleThe title is the blue link in Google. It should say what you do and where.
Meta descriptionThe short text under the link that persuades someone to click.
Main headingOne clear heading tells Google what the page is about. A slogan does not.
Image alt textDescribes images for screen readers and for search.
Structured dataTells search engines and AI tools that you are a business, what kind, and where.
Location namedIf your suburb is not on the page, you are hard to match to local searches.
One tap contactA phone number and email that open with a tap, not ones you have to copy.
Readable by AI toolsWhether assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini can read and describe your business.

What we found when we ran it across Sydney.

In August 2026 we ran The Check on 185 small business websites across Sydney. Not one passed all twelve tests. Sixty percent were missing a tap to call or a tap to email, a third had a main heading problem, and more than two thirds could not be read properly by AI tools. Read the full Sydney Website Survey.

After the audit.

Most problems on the list can be fixed in an afternoon. If you would rather not think about it again, every Elsio plan includes the fixes, the hosting and a monthly check, and our local SEO work on Growth and Ahead goes well beyond these twelve basics.

Questions about the free audit.

Yes. Type in any web address and The Check runs twelve tests in about ten seconds. There is nothing to pay, no account to make and nothing is stored. If you want a written report from a person on what to fix first, you can ask for one, but you do not have to.

Twelve things search engines and AI assistants use to understand a business: whether the page loads, a secure connection, mobile layout, page weight, page title, meta description, one clear main heading, image alt text, structured data, whether your location is named, one tap contact, and whether AI tools can read the page.

It covers the on page basics an SEO audit starts with: titles, descriptions, headings, structured data, speed and mobile layout. It does not measure backlinks or rankings. On our Growth and Ahead plans we report on rankings and search traffic every month.

It checks image alt text and mobile layout, which are part of accessibility, but it is not a full WCAG audit. Health and NDIS sites on our Growth and Ahead plans are built and tested to WCAG 2.2 AA with a written report.

Fix the fails first, then the warnings. Most of the twelve can be fixed in an afternoon by whoever looks after your site. If nobody does, that is what our plans are for.
