For a lot of local searches, the map at the top of Google is the whole result. Three businesses, their stars, their hours and a call button. Most people never scroll past it.
Which three businesses appear depends mostly on the profile: whether it is complete, whether the category is right, whether it is active, whether the reviews are recent, and whether the website behind it agrees with it. Most small business profiles fail on two or three of those without anyone noticing.
We fix all of it, and then keep it that way. Your profile and your website end up using the same name, address, phone number, hours, services and service area, which is one of the strongest signals Google uses to decide it can trust a local business.

No, and nobody honest can. Map results depend on how close the searcher is, how well the profile matches the search, and how prominent the business is. We control the parts that can be controlled and report on them every month.
